PRESENS will be releasing its new 15 kpsi Asterix subsea single and dual pT/TT transmitters at Offshore Europe 2009 in Aberdeen, UK from September 8th to 11th.

PRESENS' new Asterix subsea pt/TT transmitter is designed for working pressure up to 1035 bar/15 kpsi and qualified to a test pressure of 1560 bar/22.5 kpsi. The pressure measurement has a total error band better than ±0.025%FS and a long term stability better than ±0.02%FS per year.

The tubular high pressure design of the sensing element makes it robust to over-pressure and pressure spikes to 2000 bar/30 kpsi without affecting the sensing measurement properties. The small dimension of the sensing element with similar mass properties such as the surrounding hydraulic oil makes the sensing element almost insensitive to shock and vibration.

Designed for external pressure water depths up to 6000 meters this new sensor is ideal for applications such as subsea production trees, riserless light well intervention sysstems and other control and monitoring systems where a true level of high accuracy and long term stability is required.

The combination of PRESENS' unique sensor technology, design features and assembly concept has resulted in a range of subsea pT/TT transmitters with a number of advantages over other current solutions on the market.

"The innovative mechanical design has reduced the transmitter's weight by almost 50% in comparison to competitive solutions", says Paal Martin Vagle, Principle Engineer at PRESENS. He adds, "Reduced weight enables effective production, simplified handling and safer installation of the transmitter. On time delivery is very important for our customers and the modular design makes it possible to produce different models with very short lead times. With the new 15 kpsi Asterix transmitter in our product portfolio we expect to conquer new market segments in the time to come."
